Creating a video story (Media Project #1)
Looking for ideas for my project, which included a lot of ideas, but too little time, I noticed a YouTube video from Josh Yeo (video editor) with 300 thousand subscribers, I really liked the style of its presentation and how it creates a story from the video clips. Moreover, his video is very similar to what I want to do for my project and work with programs for editing, voice acting and color correction.
My main idea is to create a video with a story and a voice-over that would tell the audience something motivating, and the video series would include shots of the night city and people in it. The audio sequence, in addition to the voice-over, would include musical accompaniment (preferably without words), which in turn would be created and combined with the video sequence. The video sequence itself should be combined with each other, so it might be a great idea to do it in one color correction.
In the video, Josh tells and shows some tips on how to make a cinematic story out of parts of the video, combining footage from the wedding shoot together with footages found on the Internet and making several shots personally filling the story with small details. In the process of editing, he uses relatively simple ways to make the story-cinematic. For example, using: deceleration, lens flare, light rays, film grain, and others. This has a very positive effect on the viewer's perception and makes it more pleasant to watch. However, having experience of using it, I understand that you need to find a balance of using such filters in video editing - this is what distinguishes a good editor from a beginner.
Analyzing the final part of the video, where Josh shows his version of the story, you can notice several points that can be very well used in my situation, using limited copyright free footages from various sources. The first point is the use of the Kuleshov Effect, when a character looks at something, you can combine this frame with another, which can be taken from a completely different source. However, almost all the footages and materials used in the installation were of the same style and fit the rhythm of the music, so it is definitely impossible to use footages in one of which a person runs in the rain looks at the sky, and on the second footage to insert a snowfall or meteor shower. This disrupts the story and the viewer's perception.
I can also note that the description of the video contains all the tips used in the video and links to sites that can help you find the necessary footages and music (although many of them are not copyright free, or you need to pay $ 50 for each footage) - it is very convenient and useful not to review the entire video and if you have money to buy footages.
In the end, I can say that the video of Josh was very useful, I searched a lot for different videos, but this is what most inspired me and sent me on my way. In many ways, thanks to the explanation of how the story should look from a bunch of video materials, as well as very simple, but effective tips.

You have one reference here and if you had researched further you would have stock footage for free that is available to use. If you are looking at editing you needed to look at the software that you would use and as you have no plan and no project sign off this project is really quite behind - here you have made a start but now you really need to research this
