Website Creation #1. Research
In this blog, I would like to talk about my research, which I conducted by visiting several websites of different personalities which are close to my course of study. I was looking for websites that were created using wix.com since I am currently making a website using this shareware platform for creating websites. Below I will show you what interesting things I could find to make my website.
MAX MONTGOMERY
The first site I would like to talk about is owned by British photographer and Director Max Montgomery. I chose his site because it is well designed and there is nothing superfluous in it, as well as it used a minimalistic design, which I also prefer to use in my works. On the main page, you can immediately find his works, thanks to which you can immediately understand how a person makes their photos. At the top right is his name, and to the left are several tabs where you can see information about Max, his portfolio, and the movie.
Unfortunately, this page has its drawback. This problem is that its name and tabs on all pages are static, because of this, when I try to go lower on the page, I have problems, which you can see in the photo below
In the About tab, we can find some information that shows some information about its owner. It seems to me that there is all the necessary information, but it is quite small, especially where he wrote about himself, since I still do not know much about him, besides, there is his contact mail, which in my opinion is better in a separate tab.
In the portfolio tab, I noticed the portraits. It hasa good location and a good size so that you can easily recognize the photo. By the way, most of all I liked the fact that when you hover the mouse over any of the portraits, you can see in which magazine this portrait was subsequently published.
Victoria Kovalcikova
The following web site is owned by Victoria Kovalcikova the graduate of De Montfort University. Here is the most common information including the name and profession that she has mastered. By the way, there is no such problem as on the previous site, where there were problems if you scroll down the page.
On the next page, there is information about who created this site. In comparison with the previous site, there is more information about who she is, where she studies, and what she does. I think this option is more suitable for my future site
The contact page contains information about how and where this person can be contacted. Among the possible options are links to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and email, as well as a form on the site directly. I think this page is very complete.
The last thing I want to pay attention to is the portfolio. This tab contains photos taken by this person. There is a slightly different idea with the location of the photo, because here the photos are very close to each other. I can say that this idea is also quite good, in addition, when you hover the cursor over a photo, information about this photo is displayed
DANNY COOKE
The last site that I found very interesting belongs to Director Danny Cooke from Bristol, United Kingdom. Its main page looks the most interesting among all the previous ones, because it has an animated video in the background created by Danny himself. In addition, there is also information about the fact that you got to the site of the Director, Filmmaker and cinematographer.
The next about tab contains a lot of information about this person, along with his photo at the top. For example, information about his education, his interests, his place of residence, Information about what equipment he is more comfortable working with and what he has, information about his licenses and what programs he uses.
In his portfolio there is a huge number of works, they are divided into sections so that the interested person can find the work in which he is interested, to understand whether he is suitable for the job or not. I am sure that it is a very good idea to divide your work into sections, and since I am very likely to post different works, it will be a very good idea for my site.
His contacts tab doesn't have anything interesting, since it only lists his phone number and email address. I would prefer to do as Victoria did, who provided her social networks, email address, and form on the site for communication.
At the end, I would like to tell you what I liked about the sites presented above and what I will add to my own site. Firstly, I will make a minimalistic design with a plain background so that the focus is only on the basic information. Secondly, in the information about me, I will write about the same as Victoria. The information on her page is not as small as Max's and not as long and boring as Danny's. Thirdly, I like the idea that when you hover over a photo in the portfolio, information about that photo is immediately displayed. And finally I would prefer to avoid Max's error where he has static elements that cause problems with viewing his photos.
