Changes and additions to my script for a short film (Major project #5)

I would like to talk about my progress in writing the script for a short film today. In comparison with my previous post, you can notice a large number of changes. I had to change a lot of things, because some of the dialogues seemed far-fetched, as well as the characters communicated too equally and officially, which is not logical for a friendly conversation. Bullet points about the changes:

  • Characters speak more realistic ( for me it is the most hard part, because I do not know slang)
  • Dialogues  more logical and do not look so strange
  • Harry doesn't look like someone from a very poor family anymore
  • Added a bit of slang
  • Characters communicate in different ways. Oscar always speaks formally. Leo often uses strange words. George has a lot of harsh words. Harry is trying to be like Oscar. Elliot is not polite, can be rude, and can speak as he pleases.
I wrote a few more pages of the script, which by and large are just beginning the second act, but there is not much left to finish. If writing about this script as a three-act, it will look like this:

       1 ACT

  • A few friends often gather in the pub.
  • Among them is Harry, who likes to tell tall tales about himself
  • But one day they were joined by an evil stranger, which immediately becomes the center of attention.
        2 ACT
  • Because of this, Harry begins to feel superfluous
  • Because of this, Harry enters into an argument in which he is a novice.
  • Because of this, Elliot begins to accuse Harry of telling tall tales.

      3 ACT

  • Understanding the situation, his friends decide to help him.
  • In the end, Elliot leaves the table, and Harry remains undisclosed in his opinion.
The moral here is that you had to help Harry, as well as show your true friendship for him, despite his shortcomings. During the argument with Elliot, he will be close to failure. And on the one hand, for his friends, this is a chance to hope that Harry will never lie about himself again. On the other hand, Harry might have had negative consequences for himself, after his exposure, and the friendship with him could have ended forever. And despite the fact that Elliot was right in the argument between them, Harry's friends take his position and help him not get exposed.

Finally, you can see my plot plan for a short film and what has already been done is crossed out.
